Five suspected members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) were arrested by the military on October 18 in at a checkpoint in Mabinay Road, Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Arrested was Mary Grace Delicano alias Ting-Ting/Cleo/Karyle, who is an NPA executive committee member. She is in-charge of the party education and trainings in the region as well as the reproduction of manuals, publications, and leaflets.
Army Col. Alberto Desoyo noted that the rebel leader had been giving the government a bad name while conducting NPA training programs.
People like Delicano, he said, had been “pointing only to supposedly what’s wrong with government and ignoring reforms resulting from state development initiatives.”
“Worse, NFSW, PDG or KADAMAY members have their teach-in class, they are brainwashed, the recruits will have a hard time leaving the rebel movement even after realizing they’ve been deceived by NPA leaders,” he lamented.
